Youth Day Program - 25 July 2008 The Youth Day Program for this year’s National Naval Officer’s Association Conference, is going to be in full swing and a day of outstanding events. The Youth Day Committee has been working overtime to ensure this event is a success. This year’s theme is “Today’s Thinkers, Tomorrow’s Doers”. We have structured activities, tours and educational workshops that will be presented by the Marine Corps, Coast Guard and the Navy. The workshop topics include “Goal Setting”, “Overcoming Teen Issues: Peer Pressure, Health & Infectious Diseases, and On the Right Side of the Law”, and “How to Prepare for College”. Guest Speakers include but not limited to VADM Jeffrey Fowler, Superintendent of U.S. Naval Academy, and RDML (ret) Lillian Fishburne’s (first African-American female to hold the position of Rear Admiral in the Navy) daughter Mrs. Cherese Sullivan. There will also be certificates and gift bags presented for each attendee’s participation. The date for the event is July 25, 2008 from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Mentorship Program
One on one career counseling will be available for officers interested in receiving mentoring. Officers that are available to serve as mentors are also asked to volunteer. Officers requesting mentor sessions are advised to bring their service history with them to the session.
